Passion Unabated
Hi, I’m Marty Fay, the owner of Motor Works. Quality repair and service of Volkswagen products is a passion at Motor Works. They have been a critical part of our business for almost 30 years. In 1984 when we opened in DeKalb and Northern Illinois, other repair facilities refused to work on these “foreign cars”. NOT MOTOR WORKS! We welcomed these solid vehicles with their unique engineering right from the beginning.

Training and Tools
Motor Works’ staff has made a major commitment to Volkswagen service. We are constantly attending classes. There is no other way to stay current with the latest German technology. Three of our staff are ASE Master Certified Specialists. Equally crucial is our major investment in special tools and computer scanners. In addition, we stock the factory specific oils, coolants and transmission fluids these cars demand. All this is essential to the proper repair and service of these most modern of vehicles. Motor Works is determined to be the Dealership Alternative!

No Service Too Little, No Repair Too Big
We offer everything from light bulbs to transmission overhauls, “check engine lights” to motor replacements. The manufactuer’s many models are all familiar to us. We strive to deliver the service you deserve.

VW owners in DeKalb and Northern Illinois choose Motor Works because of our reputation for excellence, we hope you’ll choose us too.

1967 Was A Very Good Year
My first experience with a Volkswagen was a ride in my Dad’s brand new, black, 1967 air cooled Beetle. I was 13 at the time and I’ll never forget the excitement. Little did I realize, three years later I would be starting to work on VW’s professionally. I vividly remember being wowed by their German technology through the years. First air cooled Beetles, then fuel injected Fastbacks, the beautiful Scirocco, the speedy Rabbit, VW diesels, Things, Buses and a host more.

In 1984 I would open Motor Works. Not only did I bring 14 years of prior Volkswagen experience with me, I hired a factory trained VW, Audi, BMW and Mercedes mechanic as my head technician. Working at his elbow, I continued to perfect my craft. Roots and family would eventually call my head technician home to Florida, but the lessons learned would stay. I have passed this knowledge on to our current staff. I’m proud to say several of them now have skills equal to or better than my own.
