Chryslers Since Day One
Motor Works started serving folks in DeKalb and Northern Illinois in 1984. The first day we opened, Chrysler products rolled in our door. Names like New Yorker, Cordoba, Imperial, LeBaron, and Newport are all “old friends”.

New Technology In The Early 80’s
Our “old friends” mentioned above, had technological advances no other manufacturer could claim. Chrysler pioneered the first electronic ignitions, electronic voltage regulators and computerized engine timing controls.

Unusual Training
Getting instruction in all these advanced systems was a must, and it occurred in a most unusual way. I phoned the head of Chrysler Training in the Chicago area. I asked permission to attend their Advanced Factory Training Courses, even though I was an Independent Shop Owner. My explanation was simple. Motor Works serviced and repaired lots of their cars. I wanted to hone my craft, and make Chrysler vehicles look good by performing accurate, cost effective, timely repairs.

Long story short. For the next two years I sat with Factory Technicians learning these new systems inside out. Eventually I was told something to the effect: “We think you’re a great student, but Corporate no longer feels we can extend our top training to you as an Independent.” It looks like they finally figured out, when Motor Works makes a Chrysler look good, Dealership Service Centers loose work.

Schools And Tools
Today, the entire Motor Works staff receives aftermarket training with the same zealous intensity that started all this over 30 years ago. Our commitment to Chrysler includes thousands of dollars of unique tooling and computer scanners. In addition, we have three ASE Master Certified Specialists on staff.
