Batteries, Starters & Alternators

If it doesn’t start or charge, it’s a boat anchor!
A short 25 years ago, starting and charging system failures used to be among the easier problems to diagnose on a car. Well, along with the Dodo Bird and the Passenger Pigeon, that time has passed. Modern computer controled charging and antitheft systems are now some of the harder problems to diagnose. Motor Work’s technicians constantly update their training to keep their skills curent. In a new era of laser cut keys, radio transponders, rolling codes, and immobilizer computers, nothing less will do.
Also, we at Motor Works have seen an alarming decrease in the quality of automotive replacement parts. The influx of cheap, poorly made parts from China and Brazil has caused us enourmous headaches. A customer’s natural first reflex (and mine too) is to spend as little as possible for repairs of any type. Rent can loom large these days. If we use cheap parts they often fail prematurely, sometimes at 11:00PM on the south side of Chicago durring a wind swept 40 degree rain. This scenario should scare any five football players you care to name if you know anything about the south side of Chicago. It also produces angry customers and expensive warranty repairs for us. Basically a loose-loose proposition for all concerned. But hey, that repair was really cheap.
There is a win-win alternative. Use good parts, reasonably priced and educate your customer as to the vital differences. Explain the big savings, safety and peace of mind that come from reliable parts and quality repairs. Motor Works accomplishes this win-win by selling Interstate batteries. We use these same batteries in all our own and our familiy’s vehicles. The same goes for the hand rebuilt starters and alternators from the local M.A.R.S. Corporation. The prices are reasonable, the parts rebuilt locally and the quality better than any parts store we have used.
Motor Works sells what we use and uses what we sell. It’s called having skin in the game. Our customers wouldn’t want it any other way, and neither would we.
Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we hope you’ll let us prove it. If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can do so online or call us at (815) 756-2882 to speak with our friendly staff.
